File Contents The executable file rio600_firmware_156.exe is a self-extracting compressed file, which when expanded, places the following four files on your computer in a folder called C:\Rio600\Flash156\. Rio600Flash_156.exe - This is the utility which communicates with the Rio 600 hardware and upgrades the firmware file to the Rio. rio600_firmware_156.txt - This is a copy of the file you are reading now. =============================================================== 2. Instructions 2.1 Prior to installing and running the firmware update close all programs. 2.2 Run the self-extracting file rio600_firmware_156.exe which you downloaded from the Internet. It should extract to C:\Rio600\Flash156\ unless you specified an alternate location. 2.3 Connect the Rio 600 to the computer with the USB cable. 2.4 Turn the Rio 600 on. 2.5 Double click on the Icon labeled 'Rio600Flash_156.exe' 2.6 Verify that the contents of the window are correct. 2.7 Press the button labeled 'Upgrade now' 2.8 Press 'Yes' to confirm the upgrade. 2.9 When the upgrade is complete, click 'Ok' on the dialog box and close the upgrade utility. ***Note*** If you have a newly purchased backpack attached to your Rio 600 the Rio may prompt you to press the "Select" button on the Rio once the backpack is detected. Press this button and the firmware updater will allow you to exit. ********** 2.10 The Rio 600 is now ready to receive and play music files. =============================================================== 3.
