This file is provided to owners and users of the Rio Carbon players for the express 
purpose of flashing, or reinstalling, the Rio firmware version 1.16

1. File Contents

The executable file RioCarbon_firmware_116.exe is a self-extracting 
compressed file, which when expanded, places the following files 
on your computer in a folder called C:\RioCarbon\Flash116\.

RioCarbonFlash_116.exe - This is the utility which communicates with 
the Rio hardware and installs the firmware file to the Rio.

Readme.txt - This is a copy of the file you are reading now.

2. Instructions

**Note**  Contents on players internal memory may be lost 
	  during the upgrade! 
**Note**  Verify the Carbon is fully charged before proceeding.

2.1   Prior to installing and running the firmware update close all programs.
2.2   Run the self-extracting file RioCarbon_firmware_116.exe which you 
      downloaded from the Internet.  It should extract to C:\RioCarbon\Flash116\
      unless you specified an alternate location.
2.3   Connect the Rio player to the computer with the USB cable.
2.4   Turn the Rio player on.
2.5   Double click on the Icon labeled 'RioCarbonFlash_116.exe'
2.6   Press the 'Next' button, and the firmware upgrader will detect your Rio player.
2.7   Highlight your Rio Player and press the button labeled 'Next'.  The firmware will 
      begin transferring to the Rio player.
2.8   Once finished, press 'Finish' to exit the firmware upgrade application.

3.1 - Fixed issue where Time Remaining wasn't displayed properly
3.2 - Fixed Voice Recorder issue where that created duplicate ghost recordings 
3.3 - Fixed issue where unit may hang when advancing to next chapter in Audible file.  
3.4 - Fixed issue where Audible tracks advanced to next chapter after selecting Voice Record. 
3.5 - Fixed language that wasn't properly localized or formatted in French, 
Italian, Portuguese, and Japanese

3.6 - Slowed down text scroll rate to improve readability.
3.7 - General Improvements to Bookmark performance.
3.8 - General Improvements to User Inteface
3.9 - General Improvements to User Interface responsiveness including when 
drive is spinning up/down or caching

3.10 - General Improvements to Playlist performance.
3.11 - Fixed issue where Playlist would properly advance if it contained a spoken word track.
3.12 - General Improvements to Voice Recorder performance
3.13 - Fixed issue where FF didn't cycle through recordings in Voice Recorder Mode
3.14 - Fixed issue where voice recordings didn't have appropriate time code
3.15 - Fixed issue where voice recording format was displayed incorrectly
3.16 - Improved accuracy of recording level indicator
3.17 - Fixed issue where voice recordings were clipped.
3.18 - The Carbon can no longer be turned off when connected to your computers USB port. This allows 
the player to charge while it's connected.
