Question:
Connecting your ReplayTV DVR to your DSL Modem
Answer:
Connecting a ReplayTV DVR to a DSL modem is the same as connecting it to a Cable modem with a few exceptions. Follow the directions for connecting your ReplayTV DVR to your Cable modem with these additions.
- The DSL modem you own might be a DSL
router. If you’re not sure, please contact your ISP or DSL modem provider.
If it’s a router, it can automatically assign an IP
address to your ReplayTV DVR.
- If you have PPPoE DSL (You have to login via software before you can access
the Internet), you cannot connect your ReplayTV DVR directly to your DSL modem
unless it’s also a router. PPPoE accounts require that the user login with
a username and password. Software is normally provided for your Macintosh
or PC to do this. If you purchase a router to use with your PPPoE account,
verify that it supports PPPoE.
